A NORTH EAST hotel has announced its plans to reopen its restaurant after a temporary closure due to staff self-isolating from Covid.

Rockliffe Hall closed its Orangery Restaurant on Monday after various members of staff were contacted by NHS Test and Trace and asked to self-isolate.

A statement from managing director Jason Adams said they decision 'had not bee made lightly'.

He said: "While the team are all safe and well, we are sadly in a position where we are no longer able to operate the Orangery kitchen to the high levels of service that we aim to deliver as a five-star hotel, and have therefore taken the difficult decision to close the restaurant including Afternoon Tea, Spa Day lunches, Room Service and Dinner until Thursday, July 29.

"This will allow our team members to stay safe and rest at home in accordance with the law and government requirements."

The Spa, Golf Course and Clubhouse restaurant will remain open as normal.

Mr Adams added: "Our team are currently contacting all guests by priority of arrival date order, however should you wish to amend your upcoming booking if you are affected by this closure you can complete our booking amendment form here.

"We would like to reassure any guests who are affected by this closure, that all guests will have complete flexibility to change their booking to a new date should they wish.

"This decision has not been made lightly, but the health of our team members and guests remains our number one priority."
