A NORTH-EAST school celebrated leavers’ achievements with its first Year 11 prom since the onset of the pandemic.

Former Year 11 students from Hummersknott Academy, in Darlington, got together as a year group for the last time as they prepare to take the next big steps in their lives.

Principal James Keating said: “We’re really pleased that the children can come together, and we can celebrate their achievements after what has been a really difficult year. They’ve all worked really hard, and they deserve this.”

The Northern Echo:

More than 150 former students enjoyed a meal followed by an evening of dancing and disco at the event, which was the first school prom held at Hardwick Hall Hotel, near Sedgefield, since restrictions on socially distancing were relaxed.

Mr Keating added: “We want to say a big thanks to Hardwick Hall for putting the event on, and to all our leavers: so long, and good luck for the future!”
