THE collection of green waste in a town is to be cut back due to staff absences.
Household green waste collections will be suspended for a month across Middlesbrough to ease pressure amid the ongoing rise in Covid-19 cases.
The pause will take effect from Tuesday, July 27, and is due to pandemic-related staffing pressures within Middlesbrough Council's Waste Services team.
It is hoped the service will resume on Tuesday, August 31.
Councillor Barrie Cooper, Middlesbrough Council's Executive member for Environment, Finance & Governance, said: "We hope to resume normal service at the end of August - we're keeping the situation under review and will provide updates whenever we can."
Residents are also reminded that excess green waste can be taken to the Household Waste Recycling Centre at Haverton Hill - appointments can be booked online via the council.
