POLICE are appealing for information after a man in his 40s was racially abused and assaulted in Stockton.

The incident occurred on the walkway between McColl’s shop and Elm Tree pub in Elm Tree on Tuesday (July 13) at 1pm.

Three men approached the victim and shouted racial abuse at a man and then spat at him.

The males are believed to be around 25 to 30-years-old and are described as being ‘scruffy looking’.

Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or know of the men responsible to contact Cleveland Police on 101 quoting 115938.
