TWO teenagers were injured after being stabbed in a popular North-East park yesterday evening, police have confirmed. 

Several Cleveland Police vehicles rushed to Preston Park in Eaglescliffe, near Stockton, at 6.24pm on Saturday (July 17).

Police have now confirmed a 14-year-old boy suffered a stab wound to his arm and is receiving hospital treatment. A second victim, a 15-year-old boy sustained a minor injury.

A 14-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent.

Detective Inspector Louise Sproson from Stockton CID said: “This is a serious incident involving a child. The assault is thought to have happened close to the river within the park. The park was very busy yesterday so we’d appeal to anyone who thinks they have information, no matter how small, to contact us.”

Stockton CID are investigating and would appeal to anyone who has not already shared information with the police to call 101, reference 118563. Alternatively you can report anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Stockton Neighbourhood Policing Team will be carrying out patrols in the area today to provide reassurance to the public and will be joined by staff from Stockton Council.

A North East Ambulance spokesperson said: "We were called at 6.23pm to a teenager who was reported to have been stabbed in Preston Park in Stockton.

"A Hazardous Area Response Team crew and an officer attended.

"The patient made his own way to hospital with an arm injury."
