AS the summer holiday seasons gets underway, managers of a country estate have revealed plans for its flagship festive event.
A new Christmas trail featuring enchanting illuminations will light up the Georgian garden at the National Trust's Gibside estate, near Gateshead, from Friday, November 26 to Sunday, January 2, 2022.
Gibside, which held a similar trail last year, offers more than 600 acres of woodland and countryside, complete with a tree-lined avenue, neo-classical chapel and orangery sitting amongst the designed landscape.
Over the Christmas and New Year period, visitors will be invited to wrap up warm to be transported into a winter wonderland where they will discover sparkling tunnels of light, walk under giant baubles and beneath trees glowing in Christmas colours.
Family and friends can spend time together as they wander between specially chosen illuminations, choreographed to a soundtrack of Christmas classics.
Displays will include mesmerising flickering flames in the fire garden and visitors will see Father Christmas.
Independent street food vendors will offer refreshments.
The Christmas at Gibside trail has been created by Culture Creative and is designed for visitors of all ages to enjoy and is presented by Sony Music, in partnership with conservation charity the National Trust.
