A MAN has denied trying to kill a woman in a domestic incident last month.

Liam David Moore pleaded ‘not guilty’ at a Newcastle Crown Court plea hearing to the attempted murder of a woman he had been out socialising with earlier, on the night of June 11.

But, appearing via video link to the court from Durham Prison, the 27-year-old defendant, of Front Street, Hetton-le-Hole, admitted false imprisonment and two counts of making threats to kill the woman, all said to have taken place in her home, in Naisbett Avenue, Horden, as part of the same incident in the early hours of June 12.

His offer of a guilty plea to an alternative charge to attempted murder will be considered by the Crown Prosecution Service in the next week, with the case adjourned by Judge Paul Sloan until July 20.
