Northern bakery Cooplands is moving into the freezer after striking an exclusive deal with fellow food retailer Heron Foods to sell frozen versions of their baked goods.

Belinda Youngs, CEO for Cooplands said, “Now customers at Heron Foods can bake their Cooplands favourites at home.

“Our new range of products includes sweet & savoury pasties, savoury pies and our deliciously decadent chocolate muffins filled with a gooey chocolatey centre, not to mention our famous perfect pastry sausage rolls. There will be new innovation and limited edition products in the future too so customers can bake our bakers’ best from the comfort of their own kitchen.”

Cooplands employ over 1,600 people and are the second-largest bakery chain in the UK. The Coopland family remain important shareholders of the business, with Paul Coopland continuing to support the business in a non-executive capacity.

His wife and daughter also work in the company.

Cooplands continue to innovate to meet the evolving tastes and needs of all consumers. For Veganuary 2021, they launched a full vegan range including a Vegan Steak, Cheeze & Vegetable Bake, Vegan Pizza slice and Cheeze and Pickle Sandwich.

They also catered for sweet-toothed customers with the first vegan-friendly cream cake on the UK high street.
