The following cases were heard at Teesside and Cleveland Magistrates Court this week.

JONATHAN WALL, 27 of Sunningdale Walk in Eaglescliffe was committed to prison for four months suspended for 12 months and disqualified from driving for 14 months after they were found in possession of a lock knife in a public place, was caught driving under the influence of THC and was caught in possession of cannabis. The defendant pleaded guilty and was made to pay £128 to victim services and £250 to Crown Prosecution Service.

PAUL REED, 38 of Tamar Mews in Redcar was fined £1,166 and disqualified from driving for 24 months after driving while over the alcohol limit and driving without a licence. The defendant pleaded guilty and was made to pay £117 to victim services and £85 to Crown Prosecution Service.

SARAH MASSIE, 40 of Farndale Square in Dormanstown was committed to prison for 9 weeks after stealing two bottles of aftershave to the value of £193.50 from Boots, stealing meat products to the value of £114.72 from Tesco, assaulting two men by beating them and committing the offences while under a suspended sentence. The defendant pleaded guilty and was made to pay £100 in compensation.

ROSS DAVID COLLINSON, 28 of Thrush Road in Redcar was given a community order after assaulting two police constables and being caught in possession of cocaine. The defendant pleaded guilty and was made to pay £200 in compensation, £95 to victim services and £85 to Crown Prosecution Service.

LEE MARSHALL, 38 of Ingram Road in Middlesbrough was given a community order, fined £120 and disqualified from driving for 12 months after attempting to enter a property as a trespasser with intent to steal, entered a garden shed as a trespasser with intent to steal, and was caught behind the wheel under the influence of cocaine. The defendant pleaded guilty and was made to pay £100 in compensation, £95 to victim services and £85 to Crown Prosecution Service.

JOHN PAUL RAPER, 58 of Wentworth Grove in Hartlepool was committed to prison for three weeks after breaching a restraining order. The defendant pleaded guilty but was found to be guilty and was made to pay £128 to victim services and £300 to Crown Prosecution Service.

GARY WATSON, 31 of Kimbrace Road in Hartlepool was committed to prison for 18 weeks suspended for 12 months, fined £50 and disqualified from driving for three years after failing to supply a sample when asked to by police, driving without insurance, driving while being disqualified, and failing to surrender to Teesside Magistrates Court while on bail. The defendant pleaded guilty and was made to pay £128 to victim services and £85 to Crown Prosecution Service.

NICOLE LEONARD, 38 of Railway Terrace in Brotton was committed to prison for 26 weeks suspended for 12 months after stealing beauty products to the value of £108.95 from Boots. The reason for imprisonment was due to persistent offending of a similar nature. The defendant pleaded guilty and was not made to pay anything due to lack of means.

NEIL MARTIN, 52 of Amber Street in Middlesbrough was committed to prison for 20 weeks after stealing cosmetic products to the value of £227.50 from Boots, being caught in possession of class C drugs, entering a property while on bail, stole gaming cards to the value of £104 from that same property, stole skin care products to the value of £34.94 from WHSmith, and committed these offences while under a suspended sentence.

ASHLEY PLUNKETT JOHNSON, 28 of Birchill Road in Redcar was committed to prison for 41 weeks after stealing clothes to the value of £300 from JD Sports, assaulting a woman, stole larger to the value of £11.00 from Sainsbury’s, stole meat and cigarettes to the value of £30 from Sainsbury’s, stole cigarettes to the value of £19 from Morrisons, and committed these offences while under a suspended sentence. The defendant pleaded guilty and was made to pay £485 in compensation.

ROBERT LEE LANCE, 33 from Derwent Street in Hartlepool was committed to prison for 26 weeks after stealing cosmetics from Boots, assaulting a man, was caught in possession of a lock knife in public and stole chocolate to the value of £80 from Sainsbury’s. The defendant pleaded guilty to all charges and was made to pay £180 in compensation.

GAVIN KENNEDY, 36 of Dalwood Court in Hemlington was fined £120 and disqualified from driving for 12 months after driving under the influence of cocaine. The defendant pleaded guilty and was made to pay £34 to victim services and £85 to Crown Prosecution Service.
