AN interactive map showing how many people have received their Covid vaccine by each postcode area has been released.

The map, which shows the total number of 1st and 2nd doses across the North East and North Yorkshire, reveals areas with the highest and lowest uptake.

It comes just weeks after the vaccination programme was rolled out to everyone over the age of 18, with all adults now able to have their jab.

How the vaccine map is calculated

The map, which can be accessed here, shows the total number of vaccines given to everyone aged 18 and over across council areas in England.

The map also shows a more detailed breakdown with vaccination figures broken down at almost postcode level by what's known as the Middle layer Super Output Areas.

MSOA are areas are smaller than local authorities and have an average population of 7,000.

What the NHS in the North East has said

Dr Yvette Oade, Regional Clinical Lead for the NHS North East and Yorkshire vaccination programme, said there is now no reason for people over 18 not to get their first dose.

There are now an extra 31 walk-in locations among 64 additional sites across the region open this weekend for people to ‘grab a jab’.

Dr Oade said: “It is just as important to get vaccinated now as it was on day one of the programme, and it has never been easier to walk in and grab your jab while you are out and about this weekend.

“We urge everyone who has not yet had their first dose to find the most convenient walk-in for them this weekend, because the more people who get the life-saving jab, the safer it is for everyone.”
