THE following cases were heard at Peterlee and Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Courts in the last week.

JOHN DOWSON, 31, attended the address of a woman on June 18, of this year, who he was banned from contacting by a court order. The Northumberland Street, Horden resident, indicated a plea of guilt and was fined £80. Dowson was also made to pay £34 to fund victim services and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

WILLIAM BRIAN WILSON, of no fixed address, burgled Hallgarth Hotel on June 15, 2020. He stole alcohol, keys, cash, a money tin and a safe. The 33-year-old was handed a community order requiring him to undergo drug rehabilitation.

DARREN JAMES STABLER, of Teesdale Walk, Bishop Auckland, was ordered to pay £15 compensation after he stole from Iceland on January 16, of this year. The 45-year-old’s guilty plea was taken into account when imposing sentence.

CONNER ANDREW LEAROYD was fined £50 by County Durham magistrates. The Huxley Grove, Darlington resident was drunk and disorderly on April 17, 2021. Learoyd, 26, was made to pay £34 to fund victim services and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

RACHEL ELAINE SHAW, 41, of Kepier Crescent, Gilesgate, stole a wooden garden table and chairs in April this year. She indicated a plea of guilt and was discharged conditionally for 18 months. Shaw was also made to pay a £22 victim surcharge and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

JOSEPH JAMES HOLMES, of Elvet Place, Darlington, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly in Darlington, on April 26, of this year. The 50-year-old was ordered to pay £34 to fund victim services and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

STEPHEN LIAM BARKER was fined £120 for carrying a retractable Stanley knife in a public place. The incident took place August 31, 2020. The Tudhoe Moor, Spennymoor resident indicated a plea of guilt and was handed a community order requiring him to undergo rehabilitation. Barker, 27, was fined £120 and made to pay £95 to fund victim services.

LIAM JOSEPH BLAKEY, 38, of Osborne Terrace, Leaholme, was discharged conditionally for three months after being caught in possession of a class C drug. The incident took place on December 4, 2020. He indicated a plea of guilt and he was ordered to pay £22 to fund victim services and £85 court costs.

CONNOR ROBERT DRINKWATER, of Melrose Crescent, Seaham, was given a community order after he damaged a police cell on June 22, 2021. The 22-year-old assaulted a police officer on the same day and was fined £300 and ordered to pay £50 compensation. Drinkwater was also made to pay £95 to fund victim services and £85 court costs.

BRYAN CHARLES BROWN, 42, was discharged conditionally for 12 months after being caught in possession of cocaine or June 6, 2021. Brown of Ashcroft Gardens, Bishop Auckland, indicated a plea of guilt.

AMY CLAIRE PATON, 29, of Evesham Place, Cramlington, was banned from driving for 36 months after being caught behind the wheel whilst under the influence of a controlled drug. The incident happened on August 24, 2020. Paton – who pleaded guilty – was already banned from driving at the time of the offence.

IAN PHILLIP MCLEOD, of Hawthorn Crescent, Quarrington Hill, was given an eight-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months after damaging fencing and a car wing mirror. On April 24, 2021, he damaged the property whilst being reckless or intending to destroy. The 42-year-old pleaded guilty.

DANIEL FRANK WILLIAMS, 25, of Wallington Drive, Darlington, was handed a community order after he stole a Pretty Little Thing puffer jacket on April 25, 2021. He indicated a plea of guilt and was made to pay £30 compensation and a £95 victim surcharge. Williams was also made to pay £85 court costs.

STEVEN JAMES JAYE, 25, of Parker Terrace, Ferryhill, was convicted of dangerous driving June 21, 2021. He was given a 26-week prison sentence suspended for 24 months and made to pay £128 to fund victim services. Jaye was also made to pay £128 to fund victim service.

JONATHAN MARK ROBSON, 32, of Mickleton Close, Darlington, was discharged conditionally for 24 months after he was caught drink driving on April 29, 2021. Robson pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay a £22 victim surcharge and £85 court costs. He was also banned from driving for 36 months.
