306 North East postcodes where cases were reported last week

A total of 306 postcode areas across the North East and North Yorkshire have seen positive Covid tests reported.

It comes as all remaining lockdown restrictions were originally due to be eased today (on June 21) as per the Government's roadmap. 

Public Health England shows that 259 out of 306 cases across all 14 council areas had reported a rise - with one area seeing cases jump by almost 200.

In contrast, out of the 306 postcodes that reported cases - 48 have seen the number of new cases either remain the same, or actually decline.

The Government's roadmap out of lockdown restrictions have been delayed for a further four weeks, with all rules set to now be eased on July 19.

Citing concerns over emerging variants, the delay was confirmed earlier this month as officials said the delay would allow more jabs to be given.

And last week that appeared to be the case as the Covid vaccine programme was opened up to everyone 18 and over across the region and the country.

But to give you an understanding of how the virus is affecting your area - here's the list of the postcodes where cases were reported in the past week.

Echo analysis has found that out of all postcodes, an average of 11.8 cases are being recorded - meaning some areas have seen a huge increases.

The data, which shows the picture in the seven days to June 15, compared with the previous seven was published last night.
