THREE youths have been arrested following a serious assault – a video of which was widely shared on social media – earlier this month.
The incident occurred at the bus station in Consett, County Durham, on Saturday, June 5.
A spokesperson for Durham police said a couple were waiting for a bus, at approximately 9.15pm.
When one of them asked a group of youths to turn down their music, they were then assaulted.
PC Tony Miley said: “The group were identified through social media when a video of the assault was posted online.
“I’d like to extend my thanks to the victims who have co-operated with the investigation throughout.
“This type of violence however will not be tolerated and we will take positive action wherever possible.”
Anyone with further information in relation to the assault is asked to contact Consett CID on the non-emergency number 101.
