THE trial date for a man accused of murdering a toddler could be delayed, a court heard.

Grace Thorpe died in hospital last November after suffering injuries in her home in New Marske two days earlier.

Adam Jackson is accused of murdering the two-year-old.

The 27-year-old, who has pleaded not guilty to the charge, appeared at Teesside Crown Court this morning for a pre-trial review.

Jackson was expected to go on trial at the end of July but the Recorder of Middlesbrough, Judge Paul Watson QC, vacated the date during the short hearing.

Cleveland Police were called to a property on Dale Street, New Marske, to a report of an injured child.

The two-year-old was rushed to hospital in a critical condition after emergency services were called to the property.

She was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) in Newcastle for treatment but tragically passed away two days later.

Jackson will appear at the same court on July 5 for another pre-trial hearing.
