NORTH Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses and information about an alleged assault in Catterick Garrison.

It happened around Hallgarth area, Hipswell, Catterick Garrison between 9.30pm on Tuesday June 8 and 6am the following morning when a 57-year-old man was assaulted, possibly by two unknown offenders.

He was taken to hospital where he was treated for a head injury.

A police spokesman said: "We are requesting the public’s assistance to help establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

"In particular, we are appealing for information from anyone who witnessed the assault or anyone who has any CCTV, dash-cam or doorbell camera footage that may have captured something relevant.

"Anyone with information that could assist the investigation should contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2, and ask for Steven Gardner.
