THE EUROS are just around the corner and football fans are gearing up for the start of the long-awaited tournament.

Kicking off on Friday, June 11, the competition is being held across 11 cities in Europe, with many of the games taking place at Wembley Stadium in London. 

And it's no secret that plenty of people in Darlington will be desperate to experience the matches in pubs and bars throughout the town.

Gareth Southgate's Three Lions will be hoping to go at least one better than they did at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, with the impressive run to the semi-finals sparking extraordinary celebrations across the country.

Hash Bar and Kitchen, Coniscliffe Road

A big screen upstairs, a TV on the terrace and a big screen downstairs are sure to draw in large crowds at Hash for England's opener against Croatia on Sunday at 2pm. 

Plan ahead and arrive early, though, as the management team have said they're not taking any bookings.

The bar has announced it will be showing the match live on a huge 100 inch projector out the back and two massive 65 inch TV's inside.

Model T, Fulthorpe Avenue

The Family and dog-friendly pub is keen to welcome people inside.

Located in Hummersknott, it already has a large projecter in place for visitors to watch the games on.

Old English Gentleman, Bondgate

Already decorated in England and other European flags, football fever is high at this town centre pub. 

It's showing all games throughout the tournament and promises drinks at 'amazing' prices. 

The Brinkburn, Lady Kathryn Grove

"If you cant be there, be here!" a sign shouts outside the Greene King-owned pub. 

The Brinkburn will be showing all the home nations - England, Scotland and Wales - group stage matches from June 12-22.

The popular coktail bar has confirmed on social media it will show England's opening game against Croatia this Sunday at 2pm.

Although it is yet to confirm if it will be showing other games, the venue said no booking is required.

Darlington Railway Athletic Club, Brinkburn Road

The venue has five big screen TVs including a 75" TV and also a whopping 120" big screen.

Spread over the lounge, bar and function room, there's plenty of space to enjoy the games here. 

The Slaters Arms, Bondgate and The Dalesman Hotel, Victoria Road

Although no information is available online, readers of The Northern Echo said the pubs will be showing games at the tournament.
