The following cases were heard at Teesside and Cleveland Magistrates Court this week.

JASON TAYLOR, 24 of Hawthorne Terrace in Durham was given community order after he stalked and distressed a woman and disclosed a private sexual photograph without the consent of the same woman with the intention of causing distress. The defendant pleaded guilty and was fined £120 and made to pay £95 to victim services and £85 to Crown Prosecution Service.

DANIEL DAVID ALLISON, 35 of Percy Street in Middlesbrough was given a community order after stealing toiletries from Boots to the value of £136 and committing the offence while under a conditional discharge. The defendant pleaded guilty and was made to pay £136 in compensation.

DARYL CARLYLE JOHN, 57 of Master Road in Thornaby was given a community order after damaging a mirror belonging to someone, assaulting the same person, assaulting a another person and being caught in possession of a kitchen knife in a public place. The defendant pleaded guilty and was made to pay £50 in compensation, £85 to Crown Prosecution Service and was given a restraining order.

JOHN EDWARD RUSHBY, 30 of Westcroft Road in Grangetown was given a community order and disqualified from driving for 42 months after being caught behind the wheel under the influence of cocaine , driving without insurance and driving without a licence.

EDWIN ROBERT CRAGGS, 53 of Musgrave Walk in Hartlepool was discharged conditionally for 12 months after damaging a red Peugeot estate to the value of £500 belonging to someone else and assaulting a police officer. The defendant pleaded guilty and was fined £80, made to pay £300 in compensation, £34 in to victim services and £85 to Crown Prosecution Service.

MARY JANE THOMAS, 37 of Church Road in Haydock St Helens was given a community order after she committed fraud by making a false representation that she had the permission to use another person’s bank card in order to book a family holiday to Crimdon Dene Caravan Park to the value of £426.30 to make a gain, to purchase goods to the value of £21.05, to make a gain of £30.67, to make a gain of £19.06 and to make a gain of £41.44. The defendant pleaded guilty and was made to pay £60 to victim services and £85 to Crown Prosecution Service.

ENTERPRISE RENT A CAR UK LTD, in Aldershot was fined £1,000 after failing to give information relating to the identification of a driver when asked to do so by police. The defendant was proved guilty in absence and was made to pay £100 to victim services.

DANIEL MARK EDWARDS, 29 of Ilford Road in Stockton was fined £440 after driving a quad bike without due care and attention, and failing to stop after being asked to by police. The defendant was proved guilty in absence and was made to pay £44 to victim services and £110 of court costs.

REBECCA WAHAB, 24 of Penrhyn Street in Hartlepool was committed to prison for 18 weeks suspended for 12 months after stealing Ariel washing pods to the value of £32 from McColl’s, stealing two bottles of Persil to the value of £16 from Spar Stores, stealing two bottles of wine to the value of £11.98 from Spar, stealing Soap and Glory to the value of £65 from Boots Store, stealing multiple bars of chocolate to the value of £40 from Shell Store, stealing multiple air fresheners to the value of £35.93 from Shell Warren, stealing, failing to surrender to Teesside Magistrates Court and committing the offences while under a suspended sentence. The defendant pleaded guilty to all charges and was made to pay £169.96 in compensation.

JAMES JOHN MELBOURNE, 44 of Park Lane in Saltburn was committed to prison for 12 weeks suspended for 18 months and disqualified from driving for 18 months after taking a vehicle without the owners consent, driving without a licence, driving without insurance, causing an accident and driving while under the influence of drugs. The reason for imprisonment was due to the defendant’s previous record of driving offences. The defendant pleaded guilty and was mad to pay £250 in compensation, £122 to victim services and £85 to Crown Prosecution Service.
