POLICE have released images of two people they need to speak to after prominent work of art was daubed with graffiti.

Northumbria Police have been carrying out enquiries after the Antony Gormley sculpture that is currently erected at Newcastle University was vandalised.

The statue is on loan to the university from the Antony Gormley Studio and the cost to clean the artwork was £8,000.

Police believe the damage was caused at around 10pm on March 31 and enquiries to identify those responsible is ongoing.

Now they have released images of a male and female they need to identify as part of their enquiry.

They were in the area at the time the damage is believed to have been caused and could assist the enquiry.

The man and woman, or anyone who knows their identity, is asked to contact Northumbria Police through their website quoting log 749 31/03/21.
