MORE than 1,000 homes are currently without electricity due to a power cut in the Northallerton area.
Northern Powergrid say that about 1,100 premises in the DL6 postcode area have been affected by the outage that was first reported at 1.32pm this afternoon.
In a message to customers, the firm says that the cause of the power cut is down to 'an unexpected problem' with the supply cables or equipment.
Engineers are currently working on fixing the problem and Northern Powergrid estimates that power will be restored to properties by 3.15pm this afternoon.
