TWO men were arrested in Thirsk last night on suspicion of drug offences after police spotted a car being driven erratically.
At around 9.30pm, officers from North Yorkshire Police’s proactive drugs team, Operation Expedite, were on patrol in the town and became concerned about the manner of driving of a car travelling along Long Street.
Officers stopped the vehicle at the Tesco store car park and noticed a strong smell of cannabis coming from the vehicle.
A search of the car resulted in officers seizing a large bag of around 15 smaller bags containing suspected cannabis and another two bags of suspected cannabis from the driver.
The men who are aged in their 30s and local to the area, were both arrested on suspicion of possessing cannabis with intent to supply.
The driver was also arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drugs after failing a drug test.
Both men remain in police custody for questioning.
