A FURTHER 79 cases of Covid-19 were confirmed in the North-East and North Yorkshire on Sunday.

The Government said a further four people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Sunday, bringing the UK total to 127,679.

Separate figures published by the UK’s statistics agencies show there have been 152,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

The Government also said that, as of 9am on Saturday, there had been a further 1,926 lab-confirmed cases in the UK.

It brings the total to 4,450,777.

Government data up to May 15 shows that of the 56,677,012 jabs given in the UK so far, 36,573,354 were first doses – a rise of 237,331 on the previous day.

Some 20,103,658 were second doses, an increase of 391,246.

North Yorkshire: 30,173 was 30,157, an increase of 16

Northumberland: 17,627 was 17,625, an increase of 2

Redcar and Cleveland: 9,370 was 9,366; an increase of 4

South Tyneside: 11,418 was 11,415, an increase of 3

Stockton: 16,040 was16,035, an increase of 5

Sunderland: 22,184 was 22,181, an increase of 3
