POLICE have found a body in the search for a missing 29-year-old from Yorkshire.

West Yorkshire Police revealed late on Wednesday night that officers searching for James Byrne, from Huddersfield, had found the body of a man.

The 29-year-old, who is believed to be a soldier, was reported missing on Monday morning, at around 9am.

He was last seen near River Colne in Manchester Road, Huddersfield.

Searches had been ongoing for the past few days, with police officers and army officials helping with the operation.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Mr Byrne’s family have been made aware of the development and enquiries remain ongoing by Kirklees CID."
