I was shocked to read your article about inaccuracies in the Environment Agency’s flood modelling for Tadcaster (Fury as Tadcaster flood defences delayed by two years, May 10).

I have been trying to convince the EA that their modelling for York is also seriously flawed, because they are predicting flood levels through Clementhorpe which are too low.

To rub salt in the wounds, the EA have built new flood protection around the Foss Barrier infrastructure to a higher level than they propose for the residents of Clementhorpe.

Both the Tadcaster problem and Clementhorpe inconsistencies could be quickly solved if the EA simply raise the height of the new defences to a sensible level and got on with construction work. There is something seriously wrong with the engineering management of the flood defence works in our area. I call on our MPs and councillors to demand an urgent public review.
