POLICE were contacted by a concerned member of the public after a baby was left alone in a car, while the parents went shopping.

Police were contacted just after 1.40pm on Thursday (May 6) after a young baby was left unattended in a vehicle outside the B&M store on the Trunk Road, South Bank.

The parents hadn’t come forward despite a shout out and police attended the scene by which time someone had managed to open the vehicle to check the child’s welfare.

The parents were then located shortly afterwards and given strong words of advice about leaving their child unattended in a car.
