The following cases were heard at Teesside and Cleveland Magistrates court this week.

LUKE STUART HARVEY, 21 of Eaglesfield in Hartlepool was fined £120 and disqualified from driving for six months after driving without insurance, driving without a licence and failing to stop. The defendant pleaded guilty and was made to pay £34 to victim services and £110 of court costs.

JAMES MICHAEL DIXON, 32 of Cranbourne Terrace in Stockton was committed to prison for 24 weeks suspended for 24 months after assaulting two police officers. The reason for the imprisonment was because it was a serious offence against the officers while children were present. The defendant pleaded guilty and was made to pay £150 in compensation, £127.98 to victim services and £150 to Crown Prosecution Service.

LINDSEY MELVIN, 30 of Shaftesbury Street in Stockton was committed to prison for 24 weeks suspended for 18 months after being found in possession of class A drugs, stealing a bag containing £200 from someone else and assaulting someone. The defendant pleaded guilty and was made to pay £297.02 in compensation.

ANDREW JAMES BOYLE, 35 of Gypsy Lane in Nunthorpe was fined £300 after being caught behind the wheel, on separate occasions, under the influence of cannabis, and two other cases of being under the influence of cocaine. The defendant pleaded guilty and was made to pay £34 to victim services and £85 to Crown Prosecution Service.

WILLIAM HYMER, 22 of Cotswold Crescent in Billingham was made to pay £250 in compensation after he destroyed a window belonging to Cleveland Police and destroyed a window belonging to the Jobcentre Plus.

PAULA ANDERSON, 41 of Leonard Street in Sunderland was given a community order after she stole perfume and other items from Boots to the value of £343. The defendant pleaded guilty and was made to pay £34 to victim services and £100 to Crown Prosecution Service.

STEVEN ANDREW BROWN, 33 of Phoenix Park in Hemlington was committed to prison for 14 weeks suspended for 18 months after he stole 4 bottles of perfume from Lloyds Pharmacy to the value of £240, various toiletries to the value of £200 from Boots Chemist, cosmetics to the value of £136 from Boots and attempted to steal makeup to the value of £25 from Boots and failing to surrender to Teesside Magistrates court. These offences were committed during a conditional discharge. The defendant pleaded guilty and was made to pay £866 in compensation.

STEPHEN BARKER, 28 of Castleton Road in Middlesbrough was committed to prison for 44 weeks after stealing easter eggs to the value of £21 from Iceland, breached a criminal behaviour order by entering Iceland, stole chicken bacon to the value of £36.25 from the Lodge filling station, stole meat and cheese from lodge filling station, and another breach of a criminal behaviour order, stealing of food products to the value of £33.90 from Iceland, stole meat products to the value of £24.10 from Costcutters, stole cleaning products to the value of £18 from Iceland stores, stole food products to the value of £12 from Iceland, cleaning products from Iceland, cleaning products to the value of £18 from Iceland, stole a bicycle to the value of £350 from someone, stole meat products to the value of £50 from Iceland, stole meat products to the value of £30 from Iceland. These offences were committed during a suspended sentence. The defendant pleaded guilty and was made to pay £511.90 in compensation.

SARA JANE WILSON, 37 of Bridge Road in Stockton was given a community order after she stole three Nivea gift sets to the value of £14.97 belonging to Home Bargains, makeup, toothbrush heads and designer aftershave from Boots, toiletries to the value of £35 from Home Bargains, toiletries to the value of £16.98 from Home Bargains, toiletries of unknown value from Home Bargains, meat and coffee to the value of £60.20 from The Co-op, assaulted someone by beating them, assaulted a man by beating him, stole jewellery to the value of £56 from Matalan, jewellery from Matalan, two cases of using threatening behaviour against someone, stole meat and coffee to the value of £45 from co-op, coffee to the value of £15 from Poundland, threatened and harassed someone, stole toiletries and cosmetics to the value of £15 from Home Bargains and various items to the value of £41.40 from Home Bargains. The defendant pleaded guilty to 13 offences, and not guilty to four offences and was made to pay £975.95 in compensation.

DEBORAH OLIVER, 59 of Yarm Back Lane in Elton was committed to prison for 12 months after she failed to disclose to Stockton Borough Council and the Department of Work and Pensions that she lived with another person to make a gain. The defendant pleaded guilty and was made to pay £122 to victim services, and £85 to Crown Prosecution.
