THE following cases were heard at Peterlee and Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Courts in the last week.

BEN TRUSWELL, from Hartlepool, assaulted a woman by beating her on January 17, 2021. The 19-year-old pleaded guilty and was discharged conditionally for 12 months. Truswell, from Telford Close, was ordered to pay £22 to fund victim services and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

NATHAN LEWIS PRENDERGAST, 27, beat two police officers in Darlington, on January 18, 2020. The Albery Place, Darlington resident, changed his plea to guilty and was given a 12 week prison sentence suspended for 12 months. He was ordered to pay £30 compensation.

GARY NICHOLSON, 46, of Lime Grove, Shildon, beat a man in Shildon on December 2, 2020. He was fined £120, ordered to pay £150 to the Crown Prosecution Service and given a £34 victim surcharge fee.

THOMAS GAVIN PYE, of Buckingham Terrace, Leeholme, was handed a community order after he was caught in possession of a Class A drug. The incident happened on May 2, 2021. The 30-year-old was ordered to pay £95 to fund victim services. Between April 29, 2021 and May 3, 2021, he also breached a restraining order and is now subject to electronic monitoring and a curfew requirement.

ANDREW WAYNE JONES, 37, of Hallington Head, Newton Aycliffe, sent a grossly offensive, obscene or menacing text message between February 23, 2021 and February 25, 2021. The court handed him a community order and a restraining order. He was also made to pay £95 to fund victim services.

ANDREW ST CLAIRTHOMPSON, of Durham Road, Lanchester, was sent to prison for 16 weeks after he assaulted a man causing actual bodily harm. The incident took place on February 24, 2020 at Lanchester. Clairthompson, 43, was also made to pay £122 to fund victim services.

STUART HUGHES, 28, of West Way, Throkley, assaulted a man on December 16, 2020, causing actual bodily harm. He indicated a plea of guilt and was handed a community order requiring him to undergo rehabilitation. Hughes was ordered to pay £900 compensation.

JAMES HARKER, of Ferryhill , entered Crook Town AFC as a trespasser on February 8, 2020 and stole a sit on lawnmower and strimmer. Harker, of Corscombe Close, indicated a plea of guilt and was fined £80. The 23-year-old was also made to pay £100 compensation and £34 to fund victim services.

GLEN THOMAS HARRIS, 28, of Auton Stile, Bearpark, was disqualified from driving for 18 months after being caught behind the wheel whilst over the legal drink drive limit. The incident took place on October 4, 2020 at Ushaw Moor. He pleaded guilty and was fined £120. Harris was also ordered to pay £34 to fund victim services and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

TOM CHRISTOPHER WARD, of Warren Street, Horden, was fined £50 after he stole an e-cig kit from a shop on October 28, 2020. The 22-year-old was also made to pay £60 compensation.

OLIVIA LITTLE, 28, of Bluebell Close, Leadgate, was banned from driving for 44 months after being caught driving whilst over the legal drink drive limit. The incident happened on February 13, 2021 at Consett. She pleaded guilty and was handed a community order and made to pay £95 to fund victim services. She was made to pay £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

STUART LEE WRIGHT, 37, of Melsonby Crescent, Darlington, drove a car on June 15, 2020, whilst banned from driving. He was disqualified from driving for a further 12 months and given a community order requiring him to undergo rehabilitation. Wright was also ordered to pay £95 to fund victim services.

LOUISE VICTORIA WALKER, 40, of Kirkwood Drive, Nevilles Cross, was discharged conditionally for six months after she used threatening or abusive words or behaviour on March 19, 2021. She pleaded guilty to the charge.

GENETTE BERGIN, from Darlington, was fined £60 after she drove a vehicle otherwise than in accordance with her licence. The incident took place on July 30, 2020. The Auckland Avenue, resident was made to pay £34 to fund victim services. Bergin, 38, also was made to pay £110 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

RAYMOND ALAN STOUT, 55, of Watson Street, Middlestone Moor, was fined £660 and given six penalty driving points by the court. He was caught driving without a policy of insurance on July 1, 2020. He was also made to pay £66 to fund victim services and £110 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
