THE Northern Camera Club has more than 2,000 members and we regularly feature their pictures both in paper and online.
But we thought it would be good to find out more about the people who make up the club.
If you are a member of the and want to be part of the our Behind the Lens feature email sarah.caldecott@nne.co.uk
This week, we meet camera club member from Ross Johnston, Sunderland.
What inspired you to get into photography?
I’ve been wanting to get into photography for a while and my main focus was to capture automotive photography. I run a local car club (Abarth Club North East) and the goal was to improve our social media content.
With the pandemic taking its toll, all of our events were cancelled and as a result, I had to learn during lockdown via online video tutorials, advice and more to get up to speed. Because of this I’ve been able to focus elsewhere such as wildlife, landscape and more. I’ve only been doing this since October 2020 and I’ve loved every minute of it so far.
What was your first camera?
Canon 750D
What is your favourite lens?
Sigma 150-600mm Sports Lens
What is your go-to camera kit?
My camera is a Canon 750D and lenses are Canon 10-18mm F/4.5 to 5.6; Canon 18-55mm F3.5 to 5.6; Canon 50mm F/1.8; Canon 85mm F/1.8; Sigma 150-600mm Sports F/5.0 to 6.3. Including various other equipment such as tripod, batteries, filters.
What is your favourite type of photography?
As mentioned it would have been automotive, but I’ve found wildlife to be more fun and exciting to capture as you have to be in the right place at the right time. Gives you that challenge to push yourself and the results can be really rewarding.
