A NUMBER of cannabis plants were seized after officials from the gas board visited because bills had not been paid.

Police visited the house in Eastbourne Road, Darlington yesterday.

The grow was discovered after gas board officials forced entry into the property at around 3pm due to non payment of bills.

Officers seized more than 30 class B plants, which had filled two bedrooms of the house.

An investigation is underway to identify those involved.

A spokesperson for Durham Police said: "Like all illegal substances, the street dealing profits from this crop would have likely funded organised crime and human trafficking.

"You can pass on information about drug dealing via 101 or report it anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
