THE following cases were heard at Teesside and Cleveland Magistrates Court this week.

BRANDON BULMAN, 23 of Woodbine Close in Great Ayton was fined £233 after being caught behind the wheel while having two extra passengers laid in the back of the vehicle which could have resulted in danger. The defendant was found guilty through a single justice procedure and was made to pay £32 to victim services and £110 of court costs.

KIMBERLY BOND, 36 of Little Eden in Peterlee was committed to prison for 20 weeks suspended for 12 months after assaulting a woman and causing her actual bodily harm. The defendant pleaded guilty and was made to pay £500 in compensation and was given a restraining order.

KEVIN SAMUEL ROWBOTHAM, 35 of Cameron Road in Hartlepool was committed to prison for 26 weeks after threatening someone and being caught in possession of a kitchen knife while in public. The reason for imprisonment was due to the defendants record of previous offending. The defendant pleaded not guilty but was found guilty.

CARL ALEXANDER VENIS, 34 of St David’s Road in Grangetown was committed to prison for 16 weeks after stealing playing cards, air fresheners and cash from someone, assaulting a police officer by beating her and resisting the arrest of a police constable. The offences were committed during the period of a conditional discharge. The defendant pleaded guilty and was made to pay £200 in compensation.

CHRISTOPHER PEACOCK, 35 of Cumberland Road in Middlesbrough was fined £123 after being the parent of two children who failed to attend school. The defendant pleaded guilty and was made to pay £34 to victim services and £50 of court costs.

LOUISE BRYSON, 30 of Knole Road in Billingham was committed to prison for 30 weeks suspended for 12 months after failing to notify the Department for Work and Pensions in the prescribed manner of a change of circumstances which would affect their entitlement for housing benefits, taking advantage of income support. The defendant pleaded guilty and was made to pay £140 to victim services and £85 to Crown Prosecution Service

RYAN MICHAEL DAWSON, 27 of Inverness Road in Hartlepool was committed to prison for 15 weeks suspended for 18 months and disqualified from driving for 46 months after driving while being disqualified, driving without insurance, and driving while over the limit of alcohol. The defendant pleaded guilty and was made to pay £128 to victim services, and £400 to Crown Prosecution Service.

ANDREW MACHAHON, 52 of Kings Road in Wingate was fined £420 after committing fraud by claiming to be a barrister in order to assist in the appeal against someone else’s revoked taxi licence, intending to request and gain money in order to complete these services whilst claiming to be a barrister. The defendant pleaded not guilty but was found guilty and was made to pay £3,176 in compensation, £42 to victim services and £620 to Crown Prosecution Service.

ISLAM GUUL, 61 of Oliver Street in Middlesbrough was given a community order and disqualified from driving for 12 months after being caught driving under the influence of cocaine and being caught in possession of a folding pocket knife. The defendant pleaded guilty and was made to pay £95 to victim services and £85 to Crown Prosecution Service.

ANDREA LANGLEY, 54 of Kimberley Street in Hartlepool was committed to prison for 28 days and fined £40 after stealing goods to the value of £303.50 from Marks and Spencer, failing to comply with a community order and failing to comply with a supervision requirement. The defendant pleaded guilty and was made to pay £128 to victim services.

DEMI LEIGH MCEWAN, 22 of Broadwell Road in Middlesbrough was given a community order after stealing furniture and utensils to the value of £1,029. 86from North Star Housing. The defendant pleaded guilty and was made to pay £1,029.86 in compensation.

REECE BARNES, 30 of Southend Road in Springwell was given a community order after, along with NICOLA COMBE, stole alcohol to the value of £600 from Marks and Spencer’s. The defendant pleaded guilty and was made to pay £200 in compensation, £95 to victim services and £85 to Crown Prosecution Service.

NICOLA STACY COMBE, 28 of Southend Road in Springwell was fined £120 after, along with REEC BARNES, stealing alcohol to the value of £800 from Marks and Spencer’s. The defendant pleaded guilty and was made to pay £200 in compensation, £34 to victim services and £85 to Crown Prosecution Service.
