A MAN who attempted to rob a pizza shop with what appeared to be a firearm in the early hours of yesterday morning (Thursday) has been charged.
The 23-year-old man was charged with attempted robbery, which occurred at 12.10am yesterday morning at Xpresso Pizza in Eston Square, Eston.
The man, from the Eston area, was also charged with possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
He is due to appear at Teesside Magistrates Court today, (Friday).
It is alleged that the man attended the store on a pedal cycle and made threats with what appeared to be a firearm whilst demanding cash.
The man fled the scene empty handed and was seen heading in the direction of Eston Square towards the Foundry Public House on a pedal cycle.
