THE children of Manor Farm near Darlington certainly kept their feet on the ground when it came to welcoming the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to their home yesterday.

William and Kate took a tour of the farm in Little Stainton yesterday during two royal engagements in the North-East.

The couple spent time with the children of farm owners Clare Wise and Stewart Chapman; Clover, 9, Penelope, 7, and Wren, 4.

Clover and Penelope helped William and Kate lead their pet lambs Dumbledore and Heather, while Wren had the special job of presenting the Duchess with a bouquet of flowers upon her arrival.

And speaking after the historical royal visit, the unfazed youngsters kept it real when they described the higlights of the day as 'being on television and in The Northern Echo' and 'eating chocolate brownies'.
