THROWBACK photos can hit you with a pang of nostalgia but after the past year, you are probably sick of scrolling through pictures from the recent past. 

Our smartphones regularly surprise us with ‘memories’ – photographic highlights from years previous where we could book a last-minute holiday or pop to the pub with friends.

But what about from a time before cameraphones? 

The Northern Echo looks back at some pictures from Durham city in the 90s, can you spot anyone you know?
