AVANT Homes North East has announced the completion of brand-new sports facilities and ten residential allotments next to its popular Tall Trees development in Yarm.

As well as building 141 homes at the former Tall Trees Nightclub and Hotel site, Avant Homes committed to a community contribution of £360,000 which was partially assigned to regenerating the space neighbouring the development.

The new facilities, which will be used by Leven Junior FC, include an open green space which can accommodate one seven and one nine a side pitch, changing rooms with showers and a pavilion featuring a kitchen, function room and storage.

A new car parking area has also been built and the facilities are completed to a Sport England specification, which will be used by four junior teams, who returned to training on March 29.

Leven FC Chairman, Neil Fowler, said: “We are very grateful to Avant Homes for the opportunity to give our junior girls and boys football teams a new home to train and play the upcoming fixtures.

“With sports delayed due to the pandemic, the players, coaches and myself along with everyone associated with the club are excited to get back to football and we can’t wait to make use of our new facilities.”

Avant Homes’ community contribution was also assigned to developing ten serviced full-size allotment plots for local residents to enjoy. All ten allotments are now allocated to keen gardeners in the area.

Avant Homes North East regional development director, Tony Johnson, said: “At Avant Homes we’re always proud to support the local communities that we build in.

“We’re pleased to have been able to provide new sports facilities for Leven Junior FC and ten allotment plots on the land next to our Tall Trees development, and we look forward to seeing local residents enjoying the new amenities in Yarm.”
