DARLINGTON is the only council area that has reported a rise in the number of new Covid infections as all other areas across the region report a drop.
Most recent figures from Public Health England show that cases in Darlington are up by around 10 per cent compared with figures from the previous week.
The figures, which show the picture from the seven days leading to April 4, compared with the previous seven days, show a decline in 13 out of 14 of our council areas.
It comes as Durham's Public Health Director, Amanda Healy last night welcomed a fall in infection rates across the area, but urged people to remain cautious ahead of April 12.

From Monday, hospitality venues will be permitted to serve food and drink outdoors and non-essential retail will be allowed to reopen in the next step of the easing of rules.

But a sign that lockdown restrictions paired with the rollout of the vaccine across the North-East could be showing their mark, Covid rates have continued to fall.
All areas apart from Darlington have seen between a 12 and 45 and per cent decline in new cases over the past week, based on the week before.
Stockton and County Durham have both witnessed the largest decline in new cases with 70 and 108 fewer cases respectively.
But in Darlington, which has continued to see a fall in cases generally since the introduction of the third national lockdown, cases were up in that period.
As a result of the increase, the Covid infection rate in Darlington went up from 61.8 per 100,000 population to 68.4.
