THE hop-on hop-off tour bus is set to make a return to NewcastleGateshead - and the details of prices, times and stop off points have been revealed.

The Toon Tour is set to make a return offering passengers the chance to tour the area's iconic destinations including the Quayside, Baltic and Newcastle Cathedral.

Operated by Go North East, the open-top bus service is set to run throughout the summer period beginning on April 17.

Where it will go

The service will run every 30 minutes from around 10am until 5pm, with buses starting from Central Station in Newcastle and then serving stops on a circular route which takes in some of the finest sights around the city.

These include Discovery Museum, St James' Park, Great North Museum, Ouseburn, Quayside, Millennium Bridge, Tyne Bridge, Baltic, Sage Gateshead, Grey’s Monument, Grey Street and Newcastle Cathedral.

Customers can hop-on and hop-off at any stop along the route.

When it will run

It will officially start next week (April 17), with a weekend service only, before becoming a daily service between May 31 until October 1.

For the final month, between October 2 and October 31, it will return to weekend service. 

How much it will cost

There are a mix of one and three-day options available for those who may be staying over in the Newcastle and Gateshead area. 

One day tickets begin at £5 for children under 16, £10 for adults, £8 for concessions and students, and a group ticket costs £25 for four people.

Three day tickets begin at £12 for children under 16, £25 for adults, £20 for concessions and £50 for a group ticket for four.
