A COUNTY Durham pub has become the latest venue to transform 'unused' space into a beer garden ahead of April 12.
The Avenue in Shincliffe, near Durham, has released pictures showing how a previously unused courtyard has been completely overhauled.
From next Monday in England, pubs, restaurants and cafes will be permitted to serve food and drink to customers outdoors.
In the North-East, venues have already started getting ready to welcome customers back as scores have confirmed their reopening plans.

But as with many across the country, opting to transform any space they can, bosses at The Avenue said the garden would permit up to 30 people.
Publicans Alan Bryan and Nicola Kay said they had vowed to adapt their business following the impact of the Covid pandemic on the industry.
Mr Bryan said: “Once the pandemic hit, we knew we had to adapt our business. Particularly as it was becoming increasingly clear we needed to bring the great pub atmosphere outside.
"It’s created space for up to 30 socially-distanced guests.
"As restrictions ease, we can move the tables around and seat even more people. We can’t wait to see our guests enjoying the new beer garden.”
The transformed area, which will open on April 12, now features astroturf, a shelter, a range of seating, festoon lighting and heaters.
Before the latest announcement allowing pubs to reopen on April 12, the pair had set up a takeaway service to allow it continue trading throughout lockdown.
Mr Bryan added: “It helped us to stay connected. It also gave our guests some normality. Everyone loves a Sunday roast.”
The pub, which is part of Punch Pubs & Co, was selected among hundreds of sites across the UK to receive a share of the group's £1m scheme to provide outdoor spaces.

"Their enthusiasm and determination to provide a safe space for locals to come together has created a better pub for years to come.”
