IT is hoped restrictions on weddings and funerals will be completely lifted by summer, with a slight easing coming into force on Monday.
Funerals can continue with up to 30 attendees from April 12 - next Monday - as part of step two of the road map out of lockdown.
Weddings, outdoor receptions and commemorative events including wakes will be able to take place with up to 15 attendees in premises that are permitted to open.
Next week also sees the reopening of non-essential shops, hairdressers, nail salons, libraries and outdoor hospitality venues such as beer gardens.
The announcement was part of Prime Minister Boris Johnson's press conference yesterday where he confirmed step two will go ahead.
Mr Johnson previously said it would only do so depending on the vaccine rollout, its effectiveness and the reduction of hospitalisations in those vaccinated as well as concern over new variants.
This will also guide decisions on whether all limits can be removed on weddings and other life events on June 21.
