THREE men have been arrested after a woman died in a crash on the A689 earlier today. 

The crash happened on the A689 near Greatham at around 12.45pm.

A female passenger from one of the vehicles was pronounced dead at the scene.

Three men, aged 19, 20 and 25 have been arrested in connection with the collision and they remain in custody undergoing questioning.

A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: "As inquiries into a collision on the A689 near Greatham earlier today (around 12.45pm on Tuesday 30th March) continue, we are very sorry to confirm that a female passenger from one of the vehicles was pronounced deceased at the scene.

"Our thoughts remain with the lady’s family at this very difficult time and they are being supported by specially trained officers.

"Three men (19, 20 and 25) have been arrested in connection with the collision and they remain in custody undergoing questioning.

The A689 near Greatham has now re-opened following the collision.
