POLICE officers participated in Operation Endurance to tackle issues with off-road bikes in Redcar.
Members of the public had stopped officers who were out patrolling the Roseberry Square area to inform them of a motorbike which had been driven dangerously in the area. This same vehicle is reported to often keep residents awake until the early hours of the morning whilst being ridden antisocially.
The bike was soon seized after it was found abandoned in allotments next to Hauxley Road. It is believed that two males had left the bike and made off on foot.
Both males were chased on foot.
During the chase, PC Ogden asked to borrow a member of the public’s BMX bike to assist her with catching the males and they agreed.
PC Ogden managed to detain one male, aged-17, and he was arrested on suspicion of driving dangerously, drug driving, theft of a motor vehicle and failing to stop for police.
