ITV bosses have lifted the lid as to when the 11th series of the crime drama, featuring Brenda Blethyn, will hit TV screens across the country.

The up and coming series, which will see scenes that were filmed at brand new locations across County Durham and Teesside, is set to make a return within weeks.

Listed as part of ITVs line-up, the show will air in 'late Spring' along with the likes of Celebrity Juice, Love Island and The Masked Dancer.

It has already been confirmed that the series will take place over six feature-length episodes, all filmed during the Covid pandemic.

The first two episodes of the series will be broadcast in Spring 2021, while the remaining four will be filmed from Spring 2021 and broadcast in 2022.

The 11th series is set to open as the body of well-respected local builder, Jim Tullman, is found beaten to death on the steps of the Collingwood Monument.

DCI Vera Stanhope, played by Blethyn, questions how such a seemingly beloved and imposing figure could be attacked so viciously.

The mystery deepens when she discovers that Tullman was due to testify in court as the key witness in a violent assault.

The strong cast reunited with Blethyn includes Kenny Doughty who returns as Detective Sergeant Aiden Healy, Jon Morrison who plays DC Kenny Lockhart, Riley Jones who plays DC Mark Edwards, Ibinabo Jack who plays DC Jacqueline Williams and Paul Kaye as Pathologist Malcolm Donahue. Guest stars include Lorraine Ashbourne, Mark Benton and Louis Emerick.
