GORGEOUS new apartments for people over 60 have been built on the historic site of a former high school - and they are now up for grabs. Let's take a look inside.

Nestling in the leafy suburb of Newcastle, independent living site Pegasus Jesmond Assembly is made up of 63 modern apartments for people over 60.

Pegasus says the design is influenced by traditional architecture and character of Eskdale Terrace and the wider Conservation Area.

Jesmond Assembly is built where the Central Newcastle High School for Girls once stood, with its name celebrating the trailblazing heritage of the school.

Dubbed 'later living homes', the site features communal areas to encourage community like a social kitchen and landscaped terrace.

While developer Pegasus hopes you'll make friends with neighbours, there is a guest suite so friends and family have a place to stay when visiting.

A 'Lifehost' will also be on hand to support day-to-day tasks, bring people together for social events and take deliveries.

Mike Gill, regional managing director at Lifestory, which owns Pegasus, said: “Our communities are driven by Pegasus’ ethos of wellbeing, service, and community.

"Whatever your reason for moving, we want you to enjoy every aspect of your move and everything the community has to offer.”

Lifestory worked with award-winning Newcastle architect FaulknerBrown on the development, which boasts a vibrant setting for socialising as well as a calm and relaxing environment.

Jesmond Assembly is being marketed by local estate agent Sanderson Young.

Duncan Young, chairman of Sanderson Young, said: “As we have all felt through the UK the last few months have had a significant impact on all of our lives, but it has also placed a particular spotlight on people in later life.

"People generally wish to live independent lives for as long as possible and it is vital that we provide age-appropriate housing and housing that reflects the modern senior.

"With demand only increasing as people live longer, we have found that well designed, modern and luxury later living communities such as Jesmond Assembly, provide people with a housing option that delivers a standard of independent living that this sector desires whilst also ensuring that high-quality care and support is available when required.”

One-bedroom apartments are up for grabs for £300,000 while rental options are also available from £1,450pcm.

The stunning show home reveals gorgeous kitchens, bedrooms with fitted wardrobes and bright and modern bathrooms.
