A section of the A66 has been closed today (February 23) due to lorries being blown over by high winds.
It comes after a different section of the A66 was closed for several hours in both directions between New Lane and A1(M) J53 (Scotch Corner) yesterday after a lorry overturned in a field near Mainsgill.
In today's incidents, crews from Appleby and Penrith Fire Stations are attending multiple incidents of overturned vehicles along the A66, and are warning road users to be wary when driving in such high wind speeds.
One lane of the A66 Eastbound, between Stainmore Cafe and Bowes, is currently closed due to two overturned HGVs.
More details to follow.
