A MAJOR road has been closed in both directions after a lorry overturned.
A detour is in place after the lorry overturned in a field at Mainsgill, North Yorkshire, earlier today.
According to the AA the A66 is closed both ways between New Lane and A1(M) J53 (Scotch Corner) causing lengthy delays.
A lorry is understood to have come off the road and the road has been closed for a number of hours to help with recovery.
Highways England said the road is expected to reopen between 11pm and 11.15pm tonight.
