THE family behind a group of North-East holiday parks says it is 'proud and delighted' to have taken ownership of a top-rated park in Topcliffe.

Maguires Country Parks has announced the acquisition of the country park near Thirsk, which was previously known as Swaleside Holiday Park.

It brings to eight the number of parks now owned by the Maguire family who started out in business 40-years-ago.

Billy Maguire Snr, business owner, said that the country park in Topcliffe was a perfect complement to the firm's other top-rated holiday parks.

He said: "The park has been carefully and beautifully developed over the years by a family who, like us, are committed to providing the highest possible standards for customers.

"The location is absolutely stunning, and a perfect retreat for those seeking tranquil surroundings for breaks and longer stays throughout the four seasons.

"There are gorgeous walks in the nearby Hambleton Hills, and the Yorkshire Dales and James Herriot country are also on the doorstep – so you can see why we are so thrilled."

Maguires Country Parks, all graded five-star by Visit England, are based in quiet rural locations in Northumberland, County Durham and North Yorkshire.

They have also received the prestigious David Bellamy Conservation Award at its top gold level for the many environmental and wildlife projects carried out by the family.
