ONE lane on Yarm Road at the junction of Newsam Road in Eaglescliffe is currently closed due to a burst water main.
Police officers are the scene to assist with traffic whilst the issue is being dealt with.
A police spokesman urged motortists to please avoid the area until further notice as delays will be expected.
