THE emergency services have warned people to take extra care as pictures show crowds of people gathered while sledging in the North-East.

The North East Ambulance Service said twelve ambulances had to deal with 15 adults and children who were injured whilst sledging across the region.

It came as pictures showed hoardes of people gathered while taking part in sledging on the Town Moor, near Newcastle, on Thursday.

The scenes prompted Northumbria Police to attend the spot after reports of large crowds drinking and socialising in the area on the previous evening.
