Although the coaches are set to operate on both routes, Go North East is currently operating its X10 services to cover the stops covered by the X9.

As the introduction of coaches was first announced, Martijn Gilbert, managing director at Go North East, said: “We’re delighted to be bringing this upgrade to our express route between Middlesbrough and Newcastle.

“These coaches will provide our customers with an extra comfort whilst they run fast and direct via the A19 and will play an important part in delivering congestion busting low carbon travel to help support the economic recovery of the region.”
