THERE are more than half a million people currently living in towns and villages right across County Durham - but where is the best part to live?

From Chester-le-Street right down to Barnard Castle and across to Seaham, the county is teeming with character and has pretty much everything to offer.

In fact, it's so unique that last year it was praised for its offering when it comes to tourists visiting our part of the world.

Visit County Durham achieved gold at the Visit England Awards for Excellence in 2020 - a major accolade that all regions compete for, every single year.

But we want to know where you think is the best part of the county to live in by voting in our Northern Echo interactive poll.

Tell us which area you think is the best to live in County Durham:

(We've included names of the main towns in each area but not all towns and villages in County Durham have been listed)
