A WARNING has been made to avoid part of the Cleveland Way following the collapse of the path.

A section has collapsed in the stretch between the Roman Signal Station on Huntcliff and the wind chimes at the Fan House in Brotton following heavy rain.

Redcar Coastguard Rescue team warned people to avoid the area following the collapse earlier this week.

A statement on social media said: "Due to the excessive amount of rain that has fallen the cliff has become waterlogged and a huge amount of the soil has dislodged itself leaving just a few inches of the path along the Cleveland Way.

"The team cordoned off the area. Please DO NOT WALK ALONG THE PATH, as mentioned before it is at places only inches wide and water is still seeping through in great quantities so more of the soil will slide down."
