PEOPLE are searching for Georgian properties after the hit Netflix show Bridgerton offered viewers an escapism fix during Covid lockdown - take a look inside this period North-East castle.
Dame Julie Andrews returned to the small screen on Christmas Day as the voice of an anonymous and mysterious gossip writer Lady Whistledown in Netflix’s new romantic period drama Bridgerton, described as Gossip Girl meets Downton Abbey.
But Bridgerton has taken hold of more than weekends in lockdown, with many people hunting down homes that resemble the show's period in what property site Zoopla has dubbed 'the Bridgerton effect'.
There are plenty of options in the North-East and North Yorkshire, with large Georgian properties in Hartlepool, Knaresboroughand Whitby, but this 11-bed castle is Bridgerton-style with a modern twist and rich history.

Coupland Castle's history originates to the late 1580s with the Pele Tower being the last fortified building to be constructed on the Border. Before the tower was built, the Coupland lands belonged to Sir John de Coupland who captured the Scottish King at the Battle of Neville’s Cross in 1346.
The property has extended over the centuries, with parts of it being Georgian.
